Birmingham Fire chief speaks out after Saturday’s mass shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – More than 50 first responders were present at Saturday night’s mass shooting. Members of Birmingham Fire and Rescue got the call to come save as many lives as they could.

Chief Cory Moon was at home Saturday night when he began hearing on the scanner more and more calls for rescue units to head to Five Points South. He says he knew something was wrong and that he had to go support his personnel as well as the victims and their families.

“When I first arrived, the first thing I saw was people running and screaming. A lot of tears,” says Moon. “We have 18 frontline ALS transport units and five BLS transport units and we had to call every available resource we had to this incident.”…
