Georgia’s Ossoff wants to term limit postmaster general

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff says there has been a leadership failure at the US Postal Service, which is why he’s introduced new legislation to oversee the agency.

“This is a job that so impacts our day-to-day lives. And these elected representatives of the people need the opportunity to ask tough questions about whether or not a candidate for this job is qualified,” Ossoff told WJCL 22.

If passed, that’s exactly what the Postmaster General Reform Act will do. Introduced by Ossoff, an outspoken critic of the USPS, the legislation would term limit the role of postmaster general to two five-year terms and also force candidates to a Senate confirmation hearing ahead of their appointment…
