9 & Dine: Inspector finds more violations in restaurant follow up inspection

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – This week’s restaurant scores are in!

Pho Saigon Scores 80

A few weeks ago Pho SaiGon on 2301 Airport Thruway in Columbus scored a 76 on its health inspection. Required to have a follow up inspection, Pho SaiGon scored an 80 on its most recent follow up, just 4 points higher than its last score.

According to the health department, the inspector found the following new violations during the follow up:

  • No designated PIC at the beginning of the inspection (corrected during inspection)
  • Green and yellow sponge stored in the handwashing sink located in the main kitchen area (corrected during inspection)
  • Items in the reach-in freezer not covered to protect from overhead contamination (repeat, corrected during inspection)
  • Salt was removed from its original container and placed in a working container that was not labeled with its common name (corrected during inspection)
  • Single use items in the back kitchen area stored directly on the floor (corrected during inspection)
  • Towels used to clean spills, stored on top of food items to cover them in the reach-in coolers (corrected during inspection)
  • Floors near the cooking station, which had a buildup of residue and grease and were in need of cleaning
  • Cardboard boxes being used as mats throughout the main kitchen area
  • Vent hood system with a buildup of grease and debris in the main kitchen area

CiCi’s Pizza scores 85

CiCis Pizza on 1550 Opelika Road in Auburn scored an 85 on its recent health inspection. The inspector found the following violations.

  • Damaged food packaging and old spinach in the walk-in cooler
  • Dirty vegetable slicer
  • Handwashing sink without the proper hot temperature of at least 100 degrees
