Most metro-east school districts will have students back on campus Thursday, but closures and home-based lessons will persist for a fourth consecutive day thanks to the winter storm that raked over the region with snow, sleet and freezing rain last weekend.
It’s mostly rural districts that continue to struggle with hazardous back roads and dangerous wind chills.
For Belleville and much of the metro-east, the National Weather Service in St. Louis is predicting a clear but cold morning Thursday, with a low temperature around 2 degrees. It’ll warm up to 31 degrees by afternoon. Snow returns after midnight, though, with 1 to 3 more inches possible before school is scheduled to let out on Friday…
