Mother of baby whose body was found at Columbia tire shop in 2019 scheduled for trial

The mother of a baby whose body was found in Columbia five years ago will stand trial next month.

Lavosha Daniels, of St. Louis, is charged with first-degree child endangerment and abandonment of a corpse.  Yesterday, a jury trial was scheduled for November 20.  A pre-trial conference hearing is scheduled for November 4.

According to court records, the baby’s father, Staffone Fountain, of St. Joseph, murdered his fourth-month old daughter in 2017 at a Columbia motel.  Fountain allegedly placed the baby’s body in a backpack and hid it inside a tire at a Columbia tire shop.  It was two years before the baby’s remains were found, and another three years before she was identified…
