ALTON, Ill. – A new mural honoring jazz music legend Miles Davis is now on display along Alton’s Main Street.
The 12-foot-by-12-foot mural, prominently displayed on the wall behind Hiram’s Bar at the corner of Broadway and State Street, was commissioned from a local artist as part of Alton’s preparations to mark what would have been Davis’ 100th birthday.
Davis was a jazz trumpeter, bandleader and composer who was born in Alton, Illinois on May 26, 1926. His fearless experimentation and unique style help him redefine jazz and inspire countless other musicians…
