Robbery accomplice gets probation

HOLLIDAYSBURG — A former Altoona man who assisted in planning the 2022 armed robbery of a city convenience store was sentenced Monday to 10 years’ probation.

Blair County Senior Judge Jolene G. Kopriva told Matthew James Morrison, 31, Ashville, that she would hand down probation in light of his six months’ incarceration and subsequent efforts to abstain from drug abuse.

Morrison, who said he’s been clean for about two years, entered guilty pleas in December to felony charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery and to related misdemeanor offenses…
