Anchorage sees first snow accumulation in 5 months

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It’s official, the first snow of the season has fallen through the Anchorage Bowl, with some areas of Southcentral still waiting.

The snow is just a winter tease, however, with any snow set to melt either today or Friday. This comes as the next storm system strengthens as it builds through the Bering Sea.

SOUTHCENTRAL: Parts of Southcentral woke up with light accumulation this morning, with a few inches in the higher elevations. While temperatures have remained warm enough that little to no impacts can be expected, treat the roads as if there are slick spots, particularly in the higher elevations, where overnight lows have consistently dropped below freezing. At the surface, we should only see some slushy roads, with any snow wintry mix to transition as temperatures warm…
