ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – As September comes to a close, a power storm system is rotating in the Gulf of Alaska. The storm has generated high winds in Ketchikan, where it will remain windy through tomorrow.
Ketchikan could see gusts up 50 to 60 mph tonight and early Tuesday. Another warning area is in the Gulf of Alaska, offshore, where winds of hurricane force (74 mph sustained gusts) are likely along with high seas of 25 to 35 feet.
Another storm is pushing through Bering Sea and it will slip south, on the flank of the current low. And yet another large fall low will impact the western side of the state Thursday and Friday. This will generate winds and waves, that could cause flooding and potential problems for western coastal Alaska communities. The time to make preparations for this storm is NOW…
