Clemson, S.C. – Youngstown State’s Nia Williams-Matthews broke her school record in the triple jump while Luke Laubacher finished second in the 60m hurdles at the two-day Orange and Purple Invitational held at Clemson’s Indoor Track Complex.
Williams-Matthews entered the meet with the school mark of 12.41m, however Esther Solarin jumped 12.46m during the fourth round to become the brief record holder. On her final attempt of the meet, Williams-Matthews leaped 12.49m to reclaim her top spot. In the event, Williams-Matthews finished fourth while Solarin came in fifth.
Laubacher posted a time of 7.78 seconds in the 60m hurdles finals trailing just professional runner Jamal Britt. He had times of 7.80 seconds and 7.83 seconds in the prelims before clocking a best time in the finals…
