BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday that the price of eggs spiked by 28% in a year, blaming bird flu. A Texas A&M veterinary medicine expert told KBTX H5N1 is very similar to how humans are affected by the flu.
Dr. Amy Swinford, the director of the Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory at Texas A&M, told KBTX the virus is spread by wild birds, and it’s prevalent all over the country.
“It entered the United States in early 2022. Our laboratories first picked it up here in Texas in March of 2022, but it’s been spreading across the United States and really, nearly every state now is affected by it,” said Dr. Swinford…
