Winter weather advisory issued for 6 Michigan counties until early Sunday morning

On Saturday at 2:48 p.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 10 p.m. EST until Sunday 4 a.m. EST for Tuscola, Shiawassee, Genesee, Livingston, Washtenaw and Lenawee counties.

“Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze,” explains the weather service. “Areas of light freezing drizzle and light freezing rain lift in from the southwest tonight. A thin glaze (one to two hundredths of an inch) of ice will accumulate, mainly on untreated and elevated surfaces. Freezing drizzle/rain transitions to liquid rainfall after a couple hours as air temperatures warm above 32F.”…
