Halftime Musings: Kansas leads NC State 38-30 despite foul trouble.

Despite the start of the game looking like the Kansas Jayhawks were going to run their way to a dominant victory, NC State did enough to claw back into the game. They attacked the paint to get to the free throw line, and ultimately did just enough to stay close at the half with a 38-30 margin.

Way Too Much Fouling

Kansas has played well on defense, but they have sent NC State to the line way too often in the first half. With a total of 8 fouls committed and all of them on interior players, it’s easy to see where the defense needs to shore it up in the second half.

Kansas sends their opponents to the line way too much, and the slow steps on the interior defense isn’t doing them any favors. Only some poor shooting from the line for the Wolfpack has kept this from being a much closer game.

Winning with Defense?

Kansas has done a great job of speeding NC State up and forcing them to take tough shots. KJ Adams has three blocks, NC State is only shooting 38% from the field, and the Wolfpack only scored 30 points in the first half…
