Orlando Health Debuts State-of-the-Art Lake Mary Hospital, Closes South Seminole in Healthcare Leap Forward

Seminole County said goodbye to a decades-old healthcare staple as Orlando Health closed the doors of South Seminole Hospital in Longwood, shifting gears and resources to a new, more expansive facility. Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, a structure offering more than double the space and a host of modern medical amenities, officially opened its doors as reported by WESH and commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday. Antwan Williams, the chief operating officer of the new hospital, conveyed the organization’s eagerness for the transition, stating, “We’ve been planning for this for nearly two years,” and emphasizing that “this community deserves this hospital.”

The official opening was commemorated with local dignitaries and Orlando Health leaders slicing through the ceremonial ribbon. Shawn Molsberger, the senior vice president of Orlando Health North Florida region, underscored the significance of the expansion, “Today’s ribbon cutting marks our expanded and continued commitment to Seminole County when it comes to the world-class healthcare we are known for in this community,” she explained as covered by WFTV.
