CHICAGO – Inbound and outbound Metra UPNW trains were stopped for several hours near Norwood Park after a train struck a vehicle Saturday afternoon, killing one person.
Metra officials said UPNW train #717 was scheduled to arrived at Harvard at 5:20 p.m., but hit a vehicle in Norwood Park at around 4:20 p.m. near Nagle and Northwest Highway.
Surveillance videos showed vehicles stopped as the crossing arms of the tracks in Norwood Park near Nagle and Northwest Highway came down. On the upper right hand corner of the surveillance video, a vehicle can be seen approaching the tracks, followed by a Metra train seconds later…
