(WOWK) — A new tropical storm formed on Tuesday (Sept 24) and it has been given the name Helene by the National Hurricane Center.
The storm will become a low pressure center by the time it reaches our broader region by some time Friday. This will mean strong wind gusts and high heavy rain for parts of the area.
The rainfall models are a bit different, depending on which model you look at but overall this appears to be a significant amount of rain in our drought stricken area.
Stay tuned for more info on the storm as it prepares to move into the Gulf of Mexico, over very hot waters where it will intensify greatly into a major hurricane. We will keep you advised as the storm unfolds.
