Off-duty officer risks life saving residents from Cabell County apartment fire

BARBOURSVILLE, WV (WOWK) – The Barboursville Garden Park Apartment fire that displaced 24 residents could have ended in a far worse tragedy had it not been for one man who overcame the fear of danger and risked his life to help his neighbors.

We now know that hero is Chase Poore, a 21-year-old officer with the Marshall Police Department, who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

“Me and my girlfriend were out walking our dog, and we both kind of just looked up and saw the smoke rolling out of the building. We decided we should probably go over there and see what all was going on,” said Poore.
