The Louisa Police Department has announced that Sgt. Steven Wilburn has been appointed as Interim Chief of Police, effective April 1, 2025.
Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt, who is currently working his last week, said the new interim Chief brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the position, having dedicated his career to serving and protecting the citizens of Louisa.
Interim Chief Wilburn’s commitment to professional development has been exemplary. In 2022, he completed the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute, a prestigious and intensive 4 1/2-day program designed for first-line supervisors and middle managers. This training enhanced his leadership competencies in areas such as performance management, risk assessment, mentorship, and credibility.
