NEW YORK (PIX11) — Toll evasion remains an ongoing issue in New York City, as some drivers have recently attempted to conceal their license plates within the congestion pricing zone.
Fares and tolls generate nearly $7 billion in annual revenue; however, motorists caused a loss of up to $700 million in 2023, according to a report by the Citizens Budget Commission.

In 2024, the MTA and law enforcement partners conducted 61 joint operations to combat toll evasion and recover lost funds.
