Clarke County Sheriff’s Office hosts jail reentry program graduation

The Clarke County Jail hosted a graduation ceremony for participants that decided to take part in the re-entry program at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3. There were 17 screened participants that lived together in designated housing, Unit 6, and participated in daily classes for six weeks. There were a total of 13 graduates.

The Re- Entry Success Program is designed to equip incarcerated individuals with the skills and support needed for a smooth transition back into the community. This program emphasizes education, vocational training, and personal development, to empower participants to build a stable and productive future.

Cindy Billups, who has worked as the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office program coordinator for over 26 years, introduced the ceremony. She said she was stern with what she expected out of the participants and they were told they would be kicked out of the unit if they missed class for purposes other than court or their medical provider.
