The Georgia Bulldogs endured significant highs and lows over the course of the regular season and dealt with their share of injuries along the way. While the Bulldogs still have some significant injury issues to deal with, their win in the SEC championship game gives them a much-needed bye to begin the College Football Playoff.
Georgia is one of four teams that will be watching the start of the playoff on Dec. 20-21 and waiting until the quarterfinals to play their first game. The wait will not only allow the Bulldogs to watch Notre Dame-Indiana closely on Dec. 20, but it will allow Georgia some valuable time to heal up and focus on itself.
“There won’t be a big difference in the balance [between focusing on themselves and looking at future opponents],” Kirby Smart said on Sunday. “We commit 75, 80% to ourselves and growth and development and trying to get our team ready and backups ready. We’re always going to be working at us, and then we’re going to spend time on our opponents. It’s very similar to an off week for us where we work on two or three future opponents. We’ll continue to work on two future opponents in this case, not knowing the outcome of the game.”…
