Man Convicted of Armed Robbery and Assault at Clayton County Gas Station

Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley announced the conviction of 31-year-old James Thomas Lewis on multiple charges following his two armed robberies of a BP gas station. A Clayton County jury found Lewis guilty on two counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

The charges stemmed from two separate incidents at the same BP gas station in Clayton County. On February 26, 2019, Lewis entered the store, held a clerk at gunpoint, and forced the victim to open the cash register and hand over the money. He then forced the clerk into a bathroom before leaving the scene. On August 19, 2019, Lewis returned to the same location, forced his way behind the cashier’s counter, and demanded money from another clerk, dragging the victim at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. Both incidents were captured on surveillance video.
