For the second time in three weeks, five turnovers too much to overcome
It was much like Auburn’s game against Cal two weeks ago. All the Tigers had to do was not turn the ball over, and they would have beaten Arkansas on Saturday. But, alas, as they did against Cal, they turned it over five times. And, as they did against Cal, they lost. This time, it is was 24-14.
Even with the turnovers, the Tigers had plenty of chances. But the defense, very good for much of the game, suddenly could not get off the field on third-and-long in the second half, even giving up a touchdown pass on third-and-19.
Auburn fans and certainly Auburn coaches and players will be convinced that every close call went against them, but it shouldn’t have mattered. Hold on to the football.
