Pile burning ongoing in Foresthill for Mosquito Fire recovery

The Placer County Resource Conservation District (Placer RCD) is utilizing grant funding from CAL FIRE and the US Forest Service to assist in the recovery of private forestland within the Mosquito Fire footprint.

Pile burning treatments will occur through Jan. 15 on sites along Foresthill Road to dispose of fire-killed trees and brush. Pile burning is a critical tool for removing excess fuel loading and preparing sites for reforestation, and is only implemented under safe weather conditions.

Foresthill residents may smell or see smoke during the pile burn. Placer RCD has obtained all required permits and is working closely with the Placer Air Pollution Control District to minimize smoke impacts on the community…
