ROCKLIN, California — The Rocklin Police Department has reported a rise in financial scams targeting the elderly community. Scammers are using computers and phones to deceive victims, according to a press release from the department.To protect against these scams, the department advises never responding to urgent emails, phone calls, or pop-ups requesting a call to a specific number. If a computer becomes frozen with a pop-up urging contact with “tech support,” users should shut down and restart their computers instead of calling the number.
