The Seattle Seahawks needed only one yard to get a new set of downs and put themselves within 15 yards of a famous comeback win against the Los Angeles Rams. This was the inevitable result.

The Rams scored the winning touchdown four plays later.

Seattle is 4-5 and sitting in last place as the only sub-.500 team in the tightly bunched NFC West. Perhaps they’d be 5-4 if Geno Smith didn’t throw a critical pick-6 and then another interception near the end zone. But they’d also probably be 5-4 if they had an offensive line that could be trusted to gain a yard with one of two second-round running backs on the roster…
