Denver may eliminate parking minimums

Denver officials are looking into getting rid of regulations requiring developers to build a certain amount of parking to spur more housing developments.

The move comes as Denver’s zoning rules will have to be adjusted to meet new state standards around parking minimums for multifamily projects around transit areas, but city planners are hoping to take it a step further and get rid of them across the city altogether.

Currently, Denver requires developments to have a certain number of parking spaces based on the use of the project and its zoning district. Parts of downtown already don’t require parking minimums and developers for affordable housing projects can get their parking requirements reduced…
