DENVER ( KDVR ) — Snow is expected to fall across Colorado this weekend, prompting potentially record-breaking traffic in the mountains and more potential travel delays around the Denver metro.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, officials are expecting heavy traffic into the mountains not only because of the historical records but also because of the upcoming forecast.

Already, the foggy weather caused a ground stop at the Denver International Airport, which left hundreds of flights delayed on Friday morning. Meanwhile, traffic built up along Interstate 70 as an early morning crash resulted in traffic backups into the mountains.
However, the storm is just getting started.
How much snow is expected to fall this weekend?
The Pinpoint Weather team expects snow to move into the high country on Saturday afternoon and reach the Front Range by the evening.

- Steamboat Springs: 7 inches
- Vail: 5 inches
