Man pleads not guilty to attempted murder in shopping center shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man arrested in connection with a shooting at a northwest Bakersfield shopping center appeared in court Tuesday.

Shawn Ryan Brown, 45, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder, assault with a gun and carrying a loaded gun without registration. He’s being held on $500,000 bail and is due back in court on Oct. 11.

Motions hearing postponed in Karim Reyad case

Deputies on Saturday were called to a report of a shooting at a shopping center at the corner of Rosedale Highway and Allen Road. They found a man with multiple apparent gunshot wounds; he was taken to a hospital.
