Hurricane Helene’s wrath brought power outages, downed powerlines, trees, and flash flooding to Greenville County, creating logistical issues for law enforcement agencies and first responders. The storm left thousands without power across the state and more than two dozen dead in South Carolina.
During a press conference at the University Center, different first response officials delivered messages updating the county on what’s happened so far and what’s to come as it recovers from Helene. The storm, which made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida, brought heavy rain and strong winds to South Carolina Thursday night and Friday morning.
