Coat, blanket, food donations being accepted ahead of cold snap

As cold weather approaches there are a couple different places Beaumont community members can donate items for those in need.

The city of Beaumont is hosting a coat and blanket drive through the end of January. Items collected will be donated to Some Other Place and the Salvation Army, according to city spokesperson Tracy Kennick. A collection box for new or gently used items is set up inside Beaumont City Hall next to the council chambers.

“The City works in collaboration with Some Other Place and the Salvation Army to make sure our unhoused are properly cared for,” Kennick said. “In speaking with both organizations this week, they indicated they could use coats and blankets for those they serve.”…
