TriMet offers free New Year’s Eve rides, extended service

PORTLAND, Ore. — TriMet and its regional transit partners will offer free rides and extended service on New Year’s Eve to provide safe transportation options for holiday celebrations.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31, passengers can ride TriMet buses and MAX light rail without paying fares. Portland Streetcar and C-TRAN will also participate in the fare-free service.

Most MAX lines will operate two to three hours later than usual, running every 30 minutes. The Blue Line’s last eastbound train will depart Hatfield Government Center at 1:35 a.m., while the Orange Line will run until 2:58 a.m. for northbound service from SE Park Avenue…
