Lake Geneva awarded grant to help fund Hillmoor trail project

The city of Lake Geneva is set to receive some funding to help pay for a proposed trail project on the Hillmoor property.

Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources sent a letter to Lake Geneva officials last week informing them that the city has been tentatively selected to receive a $242,690 Stewardship Urban Rivers grant as part of the Knowles-Nelson grant program.

The grant is to help fund the first phase of a proposed trail project on the Hillmoor property, which projected to cost about $485,000. The grant will pay for about 50% of the project, while city officials will have to come up with the other half of the funding, which has been included in the 2024 budget…
