130-year-old church in Temple continues repairs months after tornado; how members must relocate for Christmas services

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) – Dyess Grove Baptist Church in Temple is changing the location of its Christmas service this year. The church is continuing the repair process after a tornado left major damage in May.

”We do a candlelight service Christmas Eve night every time, and, the years I’ve been here, we do it in the sanctuary, and it’s beautiful,“ Pastor of Dyess Grove Baptist Church, Steve Goode, said. ”Now, we’re having to do it…in the fellowship hall.”
