Pharmacy closures have become commonplace throughout the country, especially in Oregon. The state ranks second-worst in the nation for pharmacy access.
St. Charles Health System announced Wednesday it is trying to tackle the problem by opening a pilot community pharmacy in Madras — a place officially considered a “pharmacy desert.”
“There’s been a lot of pharmacies that have closed in the area and it’s down to the point where there are only two pharmacies. There’s Safeway here in town and then there’s Mosaic which is a very small pharmacy.
