Proposed bill expands options for Arkansas sexual abuse victims

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow child sexual abuse victims to file civil lawsuits for abuse-related injuries, regardless of when the abuse occurred, under certain conditions.

Senate Bill 13 , introduced by Sen. Dave Wallace and Rep. Jimmy Gazaway, aims to amend current statutes of limitation for such cases.

Under the proposed legislation, claims could be filed by victims who were under 18 at the time of the abuse, regardless of whether criminal charges were ever filed or a conviction obtained.
