At almost every stop in Bobby Petrino’s tenured coaching career, his teams have improved as they become more familiar with his offensive scheme. It was true during his first stint in Fayetteville as head coach, and the same seems to be happening this time around as offensive coordinator.
The Arkansas offense put up some eye-popping offensive numbers the first part of the season, but missed assignments, miscommunications and mental mistakes continuously held the unit back. The offense is still far from reaching its full potential under Petrino, but last week’s 58-25 win over Mississippi State was another major confidence boost for the group.
One shining example of this is quarterback Taylen Green and his improvement as a passer of late. Green struggled mightily with accuracy and decision-making in the pocket earlier in the season.
