Maryland Winter Weather Advisory: Up to 6 Inches of Snow Expected Through Thursday

Garrett County, MD – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across western Maryland and parts of West Virginia until noon Thursday, with significant snowfall and high winds expected.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations could range between 3 and 6 inches, with higher totals likely above 2,500 feet. Wind gusts reaching 50 mph will worsen visibility and create dangerous travel conditions on major routes like Interstate 68 and US-40.

Hazardous conditions are expected to peak during the overnight and early morning hours, with snowfall rates up to one inch per hour in embedded snow squalls. Freezing fog and wind chills as low as -10 degrees will exacerbate risks. Power outages may occur due to snow-laden tree limbs and high winds.
