Boston Police didn’t give the off-duty detective field sobriety tests.
BOSTON — Boston Police did not issue a field sobriety test to Greg Walsh, an off-duty Boston detective who was involved in a crash last month; even though police wrote in their reports that his breath smelled of alcohol, he was unsteady on his feet, and he was slurring his words, according to testimony at a clerk magistrate’s hearing Tuesday.
At the end of the hearing, East Boston District Court Clerk Magistrate Joseph R. Faretra declined to issue the charges requested by Boston Police, which were operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
