EPA settles lawsuit against Denver slaughterhouse

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a nearly $120,000 settlement with a Denver slaughterhouse after it violated the Clean Air Act.

Superior Farms is facing a potential shutdown if Initiative 309 is passed by Denver County voters. Initiative 309 would ban slaughterhouses within Denver city limits.

Local ranchers on the Western slope oppose the shutdown. They say closing the only lamb slaughterhouse in the state would have negative economic impacts on sheep producers…
