LOVELAND, Colo. — A proposal to turn a church into a homeless shelter in Loveland is on hold indefinitely. City council voted to table the ordinance Tuesday night, sending home the dozens of people who showed up to voice their opinions during public comment.
The Loveland Homelessness Task Force has argued the city doesn’t have enough resources for the unhoused and said the First Christian Church building, located at 2000 N. Lincoln Ave. near Loveland Burial Park, meets their requirements for a new 24/7 shelter.
The city’s agenda Tuesday night included a proposal to rezone the church, which is currently zoned part business and part residential. At the start of the meeting, Mayor Jacki Marsh said so many people showed up to speak at public comment that they had to open an overflow room at the library…
