Rocky Hill Fire Department asks for community’s help to stay open

ROCKY HILL, Ky. (WBKO) – An Edmonson County volunteer fire department could be in trouble come the end of January.

Joe Daugherty, Chairman of the Rocky Hill Fire Department board, said with their number of firefighters dwindling and many board members not returning, he’s hoping to rouse volunteers.

“We don’t have a lot of fires, but that has hurt us, because if you don’t have a lot of fires, it’s hard to get interested in the department. But out there, we’ve got three of, probably the worst things that you could have in a fire district; we’ve got a Texas gas line going through our district, a railroad, and the interstate,” Daugherty said. “So, it’s kind of important that we try to hold on and get things going.”…
