‘It can get too cold for anybody’: Animal experts encourage thinking about your pets as much as yourself in frigid temps

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — With highs next week forecasted to be in the single digits and below zero wind chills, people are pulling out the layers. Animal experts say the frigid weather puts our pets at risk too.

“Those dogs are going to be subject to frostbite,” Rob Goewey. humane agent at the Wood County Humane Society said. “Other types of things that can happen, hypothermia to dogs, especially when it’s below 30 degrees or 20 degrees with a wind chill. That’s -6 that they’re talking about for next week.”
