JAXSON’S STORY: ‘I could have been dead’

Jaxson Moenning didn’t know he was fighting for his life until well after the battle had begun.

Hauling down a long, pencil-straight road on a dark and steamy July night, going faster than he should because all teenagers wear the armor of immortality to shield the recklessness of their youth, the tumblers of disaster were locking into place.

“I wasn’t listening to upbeat music. It was kinda slow music and I must have been exhausted and I just didn’t know that I was,” Moenning said. “I kinda just shut my eyes for five seconds because my car has (lane assist).”…
