California man charged with making mass shooting threats at 24 Utah schools

Multiple criminal charges were filed Friday against a California man accused of calling two dozen Utah County schools and falsely reporting that a mass shooting was about to happen.

Shawn Bradley Kelsey, 48, of Sunol, California, is charged in 4th District Court with 24 counts of emergency reporting abuse, a second-degree felony.

On Nov. 15, Kelsey called 24 elementary schools in Utah County and left messages stating, “You need to make somebody aware that there could be a mass school shooting,” according to charging documents.

The messages also stated that someone “has repeatedly said something about having an Uzi machine gun and killing everyone,” the charges state…
