High voltage power line falls onto Livonia recycling center, starts large industrial fire

LIVONIA (WWJ) Crews battled a large industrial fire involving 70 to 100 vehicles at a recycling center in Livonia early Friday morning, fire officials said.

WWJ’s Mike Campbell reported the flames broke out around 3:10 a.m. when a high voltage power line fell onto Padnos Recycling Center and scapyard on Stark near I-96.

Livonia Public Safety asked drivers to avoid the area. The fall of the line also knocked out power to the vicinity. As of 10 a.m. Friday morning, the power remains out.
