Johnson City, Tenn. – The iconic John Sevier Center, a towering presence in downtown Johnson City for nearly a century, is poised for a dramatic transformation. In partnership with the Johnson City Development Authority (JCDA), the city has initiated a process to select a developer to revitalize this historic landmark.

A Rich History and a Changing Role

Initially constructed in the 1920s, the John Sevier Center was a luxury hotel symbolizing prosperity and elegance in the city’s heart. Over the decades, its role evolved. It became a government office building, then a low-income housing complex, providing a safe and affordable haven for hundreds of elderly and disabled residents.
