Second Half Dooms UTSA at Tulsa

For two quarters, UTSA played one of their best games of the season. Then the script flipped in the second half as Tulsa rallied from a 35-7 halftime deficit to beat the Roadrunners 46-45 Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma. Here are five thoughts on the game.

A Second Half Collapse. Continuing their strong play from last week’s game vs FAU, UTSA came out looked as good as they have all season. The defense was dominate as they held the Golden Hurricane to 7 points on just 100 yards of offense in the first half. Offensively, UTSA looked like the offense of old as they scored touchdowns on four of their first six possessions. But then in the second half, things changed. A Tulsa fumble recovery and return for 35 yards shifted the game’s momentum. That spurred on offensive onslaught by the Golden Hurricane that had several key big plays, including a 74-yard scoring play. Tulsa’s game-winning drive covered 98-yards in 8 plays in 1:01 of clock. UTSA had one last chance to attempt a game-winning field goal, but the Roadrunners turned the ball over on downs at the 50-yard line…
