Homicide in Hernando: Argument leads to deadly stabbing, burial

SPRING HILL, Fla. (CBS12) — Two men were arrested in connection to the murder of a man in Spring Hill, after detectives were led to the victim’s buried body.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said on September 20, detectives received a tip about a body possibly buried in a yard at a home on Algood Road. The tip led to a homicide investigation.

Detectives were able to identify a suspect, 37-year-old Jeffrey Brehony, who lived in a dilapidated structure on the property with the owner’s consent. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that Brehony had been acting irrationally and was paranoid about being watched.

HCSO investigators said someone working on the property for Brehony mentioned that he had made suspicious comments about a homeless person, Kevin Walden. The sheriff’s office said Brehony and Walden had argued recently, fueled by Brehony’s paranoia…
