BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Much has already been talked about, (rightfully so) concerning next week’s cold, but before Arctic air arrives, the Brazos Valley will have one more chance for some winter severe weather.
A healthy south wind will bring ample moisture and temperatures in the 70s ahead of Sunday’s front. Being on the south side of this strong low pressure system, we may find a couple storms spark up before stable, cold air spills into our area.

Overall the severe risk looks LOW, especially for the western half of the area. But as the line of storms moves to the south and east, they look to run into a more favorable environment. The most likely impact will be strong straight-line wind gusts, but a few pockets of hail and an isolated tornado potential cannot be ruled out.
After this front moves through, we transition to cold and clear quickly. By Sunday afternoon, temperatures will likely be in the 50s areawide and continuing to fall. By sunrise Monday morning, we expect a widespread freeze, with temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s, and wind chills in the 20s and teens…
